BOSTON – Abington Public Schools was recently listed among the 22 Massachusetts school districts that have been awarded funds through the state’s Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to promote the studies of languages other than English in public schools.
Abington has been awarded $12,800 through the program, which is intended to increase the number of students proficient in speaking a second language. The money Abington has received will fund the collection and study of data pertaining to proficiency in languages other than English among local students. This data will help local educators better organize language curriculum around student needs and skill levels.
